Mick

Mick although born and raised in the north east of England, spent most of his musical life based in the Midlands. Kicking off with Soul/Rock outfit ‘Jalopy Ride’, he travelled the country in a multi coloured VW van playing pubs, universities and night clubs. Including a headline spot at the famous WHISKEY-A-GO-GO in London

In the mid seventies Mick formed his own Rock Band “STICKY FINGERS”(not to be mistaken for bands now using that name). This Midlands based outfit performed their own material, mainly written by Mick and guitarist Tim Rowe and created a lot of interest in the “Brums” rock arena.

Session work followed in various studios and with various song writers, however the “Punk” explosion dampened the rock circuit and Mick retired from the music scene.

After a long lay off, a chance meeting in a pub saw Mick and four other musicians, who were at a loose end, decide to put a band together for a one off gig. ‘IZZY SKINT’ was born, and with a full house to see the lads it was destined to be a good one.

Some eighteen months later, and 136 gigs behind them, it was certainly a good one off gig.

Mick also had the pleasure to play support to The Troggs, The Foundations, Bonzos, Steve Gibbons, Trapeze and Status Quo to name drop a few.

Now back in the North East, Mick and close friend Andy Sinclair formed ’DOYLE' Mick has only one thing to say;

“YOU’RE NEVER TOO OLD TO ROCK AND ROLL”

Andy

Andy, born, bred and raised in the North East, began his musical career in his teens, when school friend Brian Stafford encouraged him to take up the guitar. Originally he started as a bass player with the band “Heart of Oak” playing heavy rock covers and original material. Andy very soon became disillusioned and abandoned the music scene.

Many years later and having switched to Guitar Andy formed the band ‘Timespell’ along with vocalist Marc Watson (Marcus Black) and bass player Jason Gates.

Playing a mix of rock and pop the band were just starting to take off, when unfortunately Andy changed jobs and had to leave the band, the band soon broke up afterwards.

Several years later, Andy and close friend Mick Doyle had an idea to get together to do some recording.

This never transpired, however from this DOYLE emerged in 2004 as a 5 piece band. The band underwent a transformation in 2006 and Andy was again reunited with bass player Jason Gates.

Jon

In his teens Jon played in a number of bands in the Durham area, with names he has either forgotten or is too embarrassed to mention.

His early influences included Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page and Alex Leifson, later moving on to Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Eddie Van and Alan Holdsworth.

After leaving Durham to go the University in Nottingham and then moving to Manchester to work, he spent a period in the musical wilderness, pursuing other activities.

Returning to the North East in 1999 Jon returned to his musical roots playing classic rock. Recent bands include "Oliver Reed Fan Club", Durham based "Fluzzis in Jacuzzis" and Teesside band "Ded Red". Jon was subsequently recruited to DOYLE in 2006.

Jon’s other interest are:- Tantric Yoga (if you don't believe this watch out for his speciality of one legged guitar playing), topiary (trimming bushes for you uneducated lot)  and bell ringing (campanology for you educated people).

Brian

Brian joined his first band at senior school performing at school presentations and music nights. In the early 80’s Brian formed the band SILENT RUNNER, the band in which he wrote and recorded his first original song.

In the late 80’s, Brian joined the rock band THE BIZNESS with front man Paul Jackson and guitarist Brian Hall. THE BIZNESS toured Europe and was especially well received on the American Air Bases in England.

Ex-Def Leopard guitarist Pete Willis later recruited Jackson and Hall to form the band ROADHOUSE. Brian was asked to join initially as a technician, but later moved on to play keyboards on their first album. With Roadhouse, Brian toured with big name rock bands, such as :- Saxon, No Sweat ,Gillan, Brett Bloomfield and Lenny Hayes .

After years on the road, Brian chose to spend some of the 90’s close to home to be with his family, however, he still kept the music flowing working in the clubs and bars of the North East England with bands like BLACK JACKSON and SIGNED SEALED DELIVERED (again with Paul Jackson). When Paul left Brian made the move from backing vocals to lead vocals

2002 saw Brian joining the JAMES DALTON MATHEWS BAND performing mainly original songs. In 2004 after a chance conversation with a friend of a friend Brian met up with old school mate Andrew Sinclair, THEN CAME DOYLE.

Jason

Jason began playing bass aged 20 in the appallingly named SHIRLEY’S SHOE PARTY, a pop/funk band with original material. He then moved on into several 'Indie' bands, most notably   DICEMAN where he switched from bass to rhythm guitar, again writing and playing original material.

Around 1997 Jason returned to bass playing in the group THE BACKBEAT FIVE. A group which tried to recapture The Beatles' Hamburg Era.

As a splinter from this, Jason and lead singer Marc Watson joined with lead guitarist Andy Sinclair to form rock/pop group TIMESPELL with a mix of original and covers. The group soon grew in popularity. Andy Sinclair was not only the lead guitarist but the main motivator of the group, and after two drummers had come and gone and with Andy changing jobs the band split and all went their separate ways.

From 2000 onwards Jason was involved in some low level ventures; he became involved in a Folk Duo, writing self penned acoustic songs etc.

Then 2006 he became re-united with Andy Sinclair when he joined DOYLE as the bass player

Bryan

Bryan was born in Tichwoprth, in Hampshire back in 1963. His passion for drums and percussion started when he was 13, and he joined his first band while still at school. He went on to play in several bands during his early teens, mainly covering songs of the era such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rush etc. At 16 he was playing as resident drummer in an hotel, and then at 18, auditioned for one the best club bands of the time, Easy Rider, and was with them that bryan gained his vast experie3nce of playing the North East club circuit.

Heavily influenced by the music of Led Zeppelin, Genesis, Rush, Jethro Tuill, and AC/DC, Bryan went on to play with a variety of reputable bands, in the guise of Grapevine, Africa, Plain ENglish and the Down and Outs.

In 2004, Mick asked him if he was interested in getting together to do some recording, but as you'll have gathered by now, whet ensued was DOYLE!
